What do the errors and warnings on the validation screen mean?

Errors block a filing and cannot be overridden. Warnings describe your firm rather than your data, and can be acknowledged with a justification.

  1. 1

Open Register, then Validation, and choose Run validation.

You should see: Counts for errors, warnings and advisories, the number of records evaluated, and whether export is blocked.

  2. 2

Work through the errors first. Each one names the rule and the record.

There is no override. An error means the package would be rejected or would state something untrue, and a product that let you past it would be selling you a rejection.

  3. 3

For each warning, either fix it or choose Acknowledge with justification and say why it is correct as it stands.

You should see: The acknowledgement is recorded with your name and the date.

Worth knowing

A warning is usually about your arrangements rather than your typing - a clause you do not have, a supplier that is a single point of failure. Acknowledging it is a legitimate, recorded answer, and the justification is what a supervisor reads.

Every finding carries the regulatory reference it comes from, so you can check the rule rather than take our word for it.

An empty register does not validate clean. A register that would file nothing is not a compliant register, and reporting zero errors on one would be the most damaging thing this product could do.
